Welcome to Black America for Immigration Reform

Welcome to Black America for Immigration Reform, a coalition of Black American leaders who advocate U.S. immigration policies that work for the benefit of American workers, in particular the Black American workers who already suffer higher unemployment rates and lower wages than other American workers.  Admitting millions of legal and illegal alien workers is arguably unjust when, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Black workers are 50% less likely to find work than other American workers and, when employed, earn 18% less.  We urge our fellow Black Americans to study the extensive research posted on our website showing the harm done to our nation’s Black workers by current immigration policies, in particular the “open borders” policies of the current Administration.  Armed with this information, we urge you to reach out to the media and to your local, State, and national political leaders and let them know of the urgent need to enact immigration reforms of the sort recommended by the 1990s U.S. Commission on Immigration Reform chaired by African American Congresswoman Barbara Jordan.  If your employers have not already done so, urge them to sign up for the E-Verify program, which ensures that their newly hired workers may lawfully be employed.
